As we embarked on our impromptu Memorial Day weekend trip to the Hamptons, we couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was our first time traveling with our 3-month-old baby, George, and we were eager to see how he would handle his first flight.
We love flying into JFK Airport because it allows us to bypass the hustle and bustle of the city. From there, we picked up our rental car and began our journey to the end of the Hamptons, which is approximately 2.5 hours outside of the city with traffic. Having a rental car gave us the freedom to stop at various locations along the way, making the trip even more enjoyable.
First Stop: Lunch at Manna at Lobster Inn

Our first stop was lunch at Manna at Lobster Inn, a hidden gem located on a small waterway. Their seafood tower is a must-try, and it was the perfect way to kick off our trip. George slept peacefully in his stroller while we enjoyed our meal, giving us a chance to relax and recharge for the rest of the day.
Shopping in South Hampton
Next, we headed to South Hampton for some shopping. We visited Ann Madonia Antiques and One Kings Lane, two of my favorite stores in the area. Both offer a unique selection of items that make for great souvenirs or gifts.
Exploring East Hampton
After shopping, we made our way to East Hampton, a charming town that’s perfect for walking around. We stopped by AERIN and Starbucks for a pick-me-up, and George even got to try his first coffee (just kidding!). Seriously though, any store in East Hampton is worth visiting, and we loved browsing through the local shops.

A Quick Snack in Amagansett
By late afternoon, we were getting a bit parched, so we stopped at the Lunch Lobster Roll in Amagansett for an Egg Cream (IYKYK) and split a lobster roll. You can’t go to the Hamptons without trying their famous lobster rolls, and this place did not disappoint. Amagansett is also a lovely smaller town with a fabulous local market that’s worth exploring.

Relaxing at Gurney’s Mauntauk
For our accommodations, we chose Gurney’s Mauntauk, a beautiful beachfront resort that offers stunning views and delicious cocktails. Their onsite restaurant serves up amazing dinner options, including fresh seafood and steak. Another great spot for dinner is Duryea’s Mantauk, which serves a mouth-watering lobster cobb salad that’s a must-try.
Breakfast at Goldbergs
The next morning, we headed to Goldbergs in Mauntauk for breakfast, where we indulged in delicious New York-style bagels and coffee. It was the perfect way to start the day before heading out on our next adventure.

A Day Trip to Sag Harbor
One of the highlights of our trip was a day trip to Sag Harbor, a picturesque town that’s steeped in history and charm. We loved browsing through the antique stores, admiring the old fishing finds, and enjoying the waterfront views. Sag Harbor is honestly my favorite part of the Hamptons, and I could see myself living there year-round if it weren’t for my family’s southern roots.

Conclusion
George’s first trip to the Hamptons was a huge success, and we’re so grateful to have shared this experience with him. From the moment we arrived, he was a happy and content baby, taking in all the new sights and sounds. We can’t wait to plan our next trip
