As a family, we’ve always been passionate about exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures. So, when we decided to take our little George on his first Europe trip, we knew it was going to be an adventure of a lifetime.
Our journey began on Labor Day weekend, as we departed from Atlanta bound for Amsterdam, Netherlands. After a comfortable flight, we arrived at Schiphol Airport on September 1st, ready to start our European adventure.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Our first stop was the charming city of Amsterdam, where we checked into the Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel. This beautiful hotel is located in the heart of the city, within walking distance to many of Amsterdam’s famous landmarks.

One of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam was visiting the Anne Frank House Museum. This poignant museum is dedicated to the life of Anne Frank, who wrote her famous diary while hiding from the Nazis during World War II. The museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, and it’s a great way to learn about this important period in European history.
After visiting the museum, we strolled through the picturesque streets of Amsterdam, taking in the city’s unique architecture and vibrant atmosphere. We stopped for dinner at Winkel 24, a cozy restaurant that serves delicious Dutch Apple Pie.

The next day, we took a small group canal cruise, which gave us a unique perspective on the city’s canals and historic buildings. We also visited Vondelpark, a beautiful green oasis in the heart of the city, and the Rijksmuseum, which houses an impressive collection of Dutch art and history.

Bruges, Belgium
On September 3rd, we departed Amsterdam for Bruges, Belgium, a medieval town that’s steeped in history and charm. We checked into the Hotel Dukes’ Palace Bruges, a luxurious hotel that’s located in the heart of the city.

One of the highlights of our time in Bruges was visiting the Beer Museum, which showcases the city’s rich brewing heritage. We also took a canal and boat tour, which gave us a glimpse into the city’s medieval past. Brugge was beautiful. We really loved just walking around the city. It was small and very walkable. A perfect place for a family.

Paris, France
On September 5th, we departed Bruges for Paris, the City of Light. We checked into the Le Damantin Hôtel & Spa, a stylish hotel that’s located in the heart of the city. We have visited Paris many times, but a highlight on this trip was that we had the chance to visit Paris during the tail-end of the Summer Olympics. It was an amazing experience. We were grateful we got to do this with George!
We strolled along the Seine River, taking in the city’s iconic landmarks and historic bridges. This time around, with the hype of the olympics, the beautiful sites took on an entire new experience.
We ended our trip with a visit to Versailles Palace, a stunning royal residence that’s steeped in history and opulence. We also enjoyed a farewell dinner at Café Vendome – Ritz Paris, a luxurious restaurant that’s located in the heart of the city.

Conclusion
George’s first Europe trip was an unforgettable adventure that we’ll always treasure. From the charming canals of Amsterdam to the historic landmarks of Paris, we experienced the best of Europe’s culture, history, and cuisine. We can’t wait to plan our next family adventure!
